Ava listens and writes up the consultation while you talk to your patient. Every entry she makes is marked as hers, so you always know what she wrote, and you decide what stays.

Ava writes up the consultation. You decide what stays.

  1. 1 Start Ava Press Start Ava on the encounter, and Ava records the consultation through your browser's microphone.
  2. 2 End the encounter Ava turns the recording into a transcript and writes up the chief complaint and her entries on the encounter. You can leave the page while she works.
  3. 3 Review her entries Each entry is marked AI, with how sure Ava was. Accept keeps an entry; Decline removes the entry. Anything nobody reviews stays on the encounter and locks with the rest after seven days.

Try for yourself: accept or decline each entry Ava wrote.

Ava between patients

Ask Ava to find a patient or book an appointment: out loud, with Talk to Ava in the top bar, or in writing in Messages, where she's pinned above your team's threads.

She asks before she changes anything
When you ask Ava to find a patient or book an appointment, she reads the request back and waits for your yes.
She stays out of clinical decisions
Ava won't give clinical advice, discuss results or read anything from a patient's record aloud.

You stay in charge of Ava

Ava listens to the consultation, so you can look at your patient instead of your screen. You decide which of her entries stay, and you can always see what she wrote.

Questions practices ask

What does Ava write on the encounter?

The chief complaint, and entries for diagnoses, procedures, observations, medications, allergies, the assessment and the care plan. Each entry is marked AI, with how sure Ava was. Record a consultation

Do I have to accept everything Ava writes?

No. Accept keeps an entry; Decline removes the entry. Ava writes her entries onto the encounter before you see them, so an encounter nobody reviews keeps everything she wrote and locks after seven days.

Can I read the transcript?

Yes. The transcript stays on the encounter, each line marked Practitioner or Patient, and you can download the transcript as a PDF.

What happens if the write-up fails?

The encounter still moves to review and keeps everything you typed yourself, and the transcript is marked with the reason the write-up failed. You finish the write-up by hand.

Which browsers does Ava work in?

Ava records through your browser's microphone in Chrome, Edge or Firefox. You allow the microphone the first time.

Can I see what Ava wrote and what I kept?

Yes. Every entry stays marked as hers, with how sure she was, and the encounter records who accepted each one. The transcript stays on the encounter too, so you can check any entry against what was said.

What does Ava cost?

Ava is paid per use, in credits worked out from what each consultation used. A credit is R0.09, a typical consultation is about 250 credits (roughly R22.50), and talking to Ava costs R3 a minute. Ava stops when your balance runs out. See every rate
