Practor is free. You pay only for what you use.
That's everyone in the practice, with no charge per seat. Claims, patient messages and Ava are billed per use, and you can cap what you spend each month.
What would a month cost you?
You pay from the first claim, message or minute, with no allowance to use up. Move the sliders to a normal month at your practice.
Estimated month: R3,164
a month, and the practice itself is free
Claims
Practor sends each claim to the patient's medical insurance. You only pay for a claim that's approved. A rejected claim is free.
R540
R4.50 per claim
Benefit checks
Practor confirms a patient's medical insurance is active, and what their benefits cover, before you see them.
R114
R1.90 per check
Patient messages
Each WhatsApp or SMS you send a patient, like a reminder or a payment link. Email and messages inside Practor are free.
R200
R0.50 per message
Ava scribe
Ava listens to the consultation and writes up the note while you talk. A longer consultation uses more credits.
About 250 credits each, more for a long assessment.
R2,250
R0.09 per credit
Ava voice
Talking to Ava instead of typing, for example to book someone in or open a chart between patients.
R60
R3 per minute
Document storage
Referral letters, scans and anything else you attach to a patient's record.
The first 10 GB is included, so it isn't in the total.
Included
R9 per GB a month past 10 GB
This is an estimate. What Ava costs depends on how long each consultation runs, so long first assessments cost more than this and short follow-ups cost less.
Practice management software in South Africa usually costs R500 to R3,000 a month for each practitioner, with claims billed on top. Practor doesn't charge for the practice. You only pay R4.50 for each approved claim, and for Ava by the consultation.
What's free
Everything here stays free for as long as you use Practor.
- Everyone on the team
- Practitioners, reception, billing staff and the practice manager. There's no charge per seat.
- Scheduling and online booking
- A diary for every practitioner. Patients book online, a waitlist fills cancellations, and Practor sends the reminders.
- Patient records
- History, results, documents, consent forms and every visit note, stored in the FHIR R5 health records standard.
- Encounters and templates
- Write up and sign each encounter, and make templates for the visits you do most.
- Invoicing
- Practor prices each invoice from the encounter's codes. Send the invoice to the patient, or claim from their medical insurance.
- Reporting
- See what you've billed, what's been paid and which patients didn't turn up.
- The patient portal
- Patients see their appointments, invoices and visit notes, and can message you.
- Guided onboarding and support
- We set up the practice with you and import your patient list from a spreadsheet.
Ava Front Desk answers your practice phone
Ava picks up when your practice line rings. She books and moves appointments in your diary while the caller is still on the line, and takes a new patient's details before their first visit. Anything she shouldn't decide, she passes to you. Front Desk is the only thing we charge for by the month.
- Price
- R999 a month, with 150 call minutes included.
- After 150 minutes
- R3.50 a minute.
- Contract
- None. You can cancel whenever you like.
- Getting set up
- Talk to us. We switch Front Desk on for your practice and set everything up with you. Talk to us about Front Desk
How you pay
There's no monthly fee. You only pay for what you use, from a wallet or a card.
- How do I pay?
- Top up a wallet in advance, from R50 at a time, and Practor takes what you use from the wallet. Or add a card and pay as you go.
- How often am I charged?
- When what you owe reaches R500, or after 7 days, whichever comes first. So you get a few small charges during the month instead of one big one.
- When is my first bill?
- Until you've paid twice, we charge you when you owe R150 instead of R500, so your first bill comes sooner and is smaller.
- Can I cap what I spend?
- Yes. Set a monthly limit on the billing page. Paid features stop once you reach the limit, and you can raise the limit whenever you need to. The same page shows what each practitioner used, month by month.
- What if my balance runs out?
- Ava and messages to patients stop until you top up. Claims and benefit checks carry on until the balance is R200 below zero, so you can still get paid.
- What if a card payment fails?
- We pause the paid features and email you. Your records, diary and invoices keep working, and your patients can still see their own information.
Questions about pricing
What Practor costs
What does Practor cost to run a practice?
Nothing. Scheduling, online booking, patient records, visit notes, invoicing, reporting and the patient portal are free for everyone in the practice. You only pay for the things that cost us money each time you use them: claims, benefit checks, messages to patients, and Ava.
Is there a plan to choose?
No. Every practice gets the same free product and the same rates. The only monthly price is Ava Front Desk, and you can cancel Front Desk whenever you like.
What do I pay for a claim that gets rejected?
Nothing. You only pay for claims the medical insurance approves. A rejected claim is free, and so is fixing and resending the claim.
How many Ava credits does a consultation use?
About 250 for a typical consultation, which is roughly R22.50. A short follow-up uses fewer and a long first assessment uses more, because the credits cover what the transcription and the AI use on that visit.
Do you charge per practitioner?
No, and there's no charge per seat either. Add every practitioner, your reception and billing staff, and your practice manager. You decide what each person can see.
What does Ava Front Desk cost?
R999 a month, including 150 call minutes, then R3.50 a minute. Ava answers your practice line, books appointments and takes a new patient's details. We switch Front Desk on per practice, so talk to us and we'll set you up.
How you get billed
How am I billed for usage?
You choose. Top up a wallet in advance, or add a card and pay as you go. We charge the card when what you owe reaches R500 or after 7 days, whichever comes first, so you get a few small charges instead of one big one. Until you've paid twice, we charge when you owe R150 instead.
Can I cap what I spend?
Yes. Set a monthly limit on the billing page. Paid features stop once you reach the limit, and you can raise the limit whenever you need to.
What happens if I run out of credit?
Ava and messages to patients stop until you top up. Claims and benefit checks carry on until the balance is R200 below zero, so you can still get paid. Your records, your diary and your patients are never blocked.
Starting and stopping
Is there a free trial?
You don't need a trial. The practice stays free for as long as you run on Practor, and if you never use a paid feature, you never pay us anything.
Do I need a card to start?
No. You can set up the practice, import your patients and start booking without a card. You'll need a card or a topped-up wallet before you use a paid feature.
Is there a setup fee or a contract?
No. There's no setup fee, contract or minimum spend. Onboarding is included, and so is importing your patient list from a spreadsheet.
Which countries can sign up?
South Africa. We've set rates for the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, and we open one country at a time. Ask us about yours and we'll tell you where your country stands.
What happens to my data if I stop using Practor?
You can export patient records, visit notes and billing data in standard formats at any time, including after you stop. The law says how long clinical records must be kept, so we don't delete them the day you leave.
Set up your practice this afternoon
