Altron HealthTech sells Elixir Live in the cloud, ME+ on the desktop, a claims switch and a bureau, and publishes no prices. Practor publishes every rate.
What Altron HealthTech does well
Altron HealthTech was formed in 2016, when MedeMass, MediSwitch and MedeServe combined, and Altron says more than 8,000 practices are connected. Altron sells two practice management products: Elixir Live in the cloud and ME+ (MedeMass) on the desktop.
Elixir Live checks a patient's medical insurance membership and what benefits they have left, suggests billing codes and modifiers, and sends claims in real time through Altron's own switch, SwitchOn, or through another switch if you'd rather. Electronic remittance advices get loaded into Elixir Live automatically, and you can send appointment reminders in bulk by SMS and email. For clinical notes, Elixir Live pairs with HealthONE, a separate health records product that syncs appointments with Elixir Live.
ME+ (MedeMass) is desktop billing software. Several people can work in the diary and the data at once, from the rooms or remotely, and ME+ keeps the tariff current for each medical insurance option and contract. For corporate and day clinics, ME+ includes electronic health records.
And if you'd rather not do the billing at all, Altron's bureau team captures and submits your claims and deals with the rejections for you.
Who should choose Altron HealthTech
- You want billing software on the desktop. ME+ (MedeMass) is Altron's desktop product, and you can still reach your diary and your data remotely.
- You'd like your billing, your claims switch and a bureau from one company. Altron runs the SwitchOn switch, and Altron's bureau team captures and submits claims and manages the rejections for you.
- You want remittance advices loaded into your billing software for you. Elixir Live uploads eRAs automatically.
- You need the tariff kept current for every medical insurance option and contract. ME+ updates those prices for you.
Where Practor differs
- You'd like to know the price before you book a demo. Every Practor rate is on our pricing page, and Altron doesn't publish prices for these products.
- You don't want a monthly fee or a charge per seat. Running your practice on Practor is free for everyone on the team, and you only pay for claims, benefit checks, patient messages and Ava when you use them.
- You want your notes, your diary and your billing in one product rather than two that sync. Practor prices the invoice from the codes captured during the encounter. Elixir Live keeps clinical records in a separate product, HealthONE.
- You want the consultation written up while you talk. Ava, Practor's AI scribe, listens and writes the note, and you accept or decline each entry. She's billed per use, with no subscription.

You can set a monthly limit on what you spend, so you always know the most a month can cost. Practor has no monthly fee and no contract, and every rate is on the pricing page.
How switching works
Practor doesn't import straight from Altron HealthTech or from any other system. Moving takes three steps, and our team does the second one with you.
- 1Export your patient list from Altron HealthTech as a CSV file. If you're not sure how, ask Altron HealthTech.
- 2Our team sets up your practice with you and imports the file. You match the file's columns to Practor's fields and check each one before anything is saved.
- 3Appointments, notes and invoices don't come across. Keep your Altron HealthTech account, or a full export from Altron HealthTech, so you can still look up a patient's history.
