What Zanda does well

Zanda was called Power Diary until November 2024, when the company changed the name because the product had grown well past a diary. The owners and the team stayed the same, and Zanda says more than 44,000 people use the product.

Zanda has a South African site with prices in rand, and markets to psychologists, counsellors, social workers, physios, OTs, speech therapists, dietitians and others. Session note templates and body charts are built in, and you send invoices and statements from Zanda and follow them up there. Through the client portal, patients book online, fill in forms, pay and cancel, and you decide which of those they're allowed to do.

Zanda imports your clients, appointments, clinical notes and more at no charge, depending on what your current system can export. You can try Zanda for 14 days without giving a card, there's no lock-in contract, and Zanda offers a 12-month money-back guarantee.

On privacy, Zanda says the product complies with POPIA, and Zanda holds ISO 27001 certification for information security.

Who should choose Zanda

  • You don't send claims to medical insurers from your practice software. Zanda covers appointments, notes, a client portal and invoicing.
  • You're a solo practitioner who'd like one predictable monthly fee in rand. Zanda's Starter plan covers one practitioner and 1,000 appointments.
  • You want your notes and history moved for you. Zanda imports clients, appointments and clinical notes free, depending on what your current system can export.
  • You'd like a long trial and a guarantee. Zanda offers 14 days free without a card, and a 12-month money-back guarantee.

Where Practor differs

  • You bill South African medical insurers. Practor sends the claim straight from the invoice and runs benefit checks, so nothing gets retyped into a second system. Zanda's claiming page names Medicare, DVA and NDIS, all Australian, and we found no South African medical insurer on that page.
  • You'd rather not pay per practitioner. Running your practice on Practor is free for everyone on the team, and you pay per use for claims, benefit checks, messages and Ava.
  • You send a lot of reminders. Practor sends them by WhatsApp or SMS at one rate per message. Put that rate beside Zanda's SMS price in the table below.

How switching works

Practor doesn't import straight from Zanda or from any other system. Moving takes three steps, and our team does the second one with you.

  1. 1Export your patient list from Zanda as a CSV file. If you're not sure how, ask Zanda.
  2. 2Our team sets up your practice with you and imports the file. You match the file's columns to Practor's fields and check each one before anything is saved.
  3. 3Appointments, notes and invoices don't come across. Keep your Zanda account, or a full export from Zanda, so you can still look up a patient's history.
