What NetPractice does well

NetPractice is medical billing software for South African practices. NetPractice charges R9.50 a claim, and your first 10 each month are free. There's no subscription, no setup fee, no charge per user and no contract, so adding a receptionist or a second practitioner doesn't change what you pay.

You book the visit and capture the consultation, and NetPractice builds the claim and submits the claim in real time. When a claim is rejected, you see why. NetPractice also matches what each medical insurer actually paid against what you claimed, which saves you doing that from the statements by hand. Prescriptions, sick notes and referral letters take a couple of clicks.

NetPractice is built for social workers, psychologists, dietitians, physios, OTs, speech therapists, nurses and GPs, and says a practice can be live within 24 hours.

NetPractice's own alternatives page is candid about who should look elsewhere: a practice outside South Africa, one that wants a full clinical EMR, one that would rather use a bureau, and one with very high volumes, where a fixed monthly cost may suit better.

Who should choose NetPractice

  • You send only a handful of claims. Your first 10 each month are free on NetPractice, and Practor charges for every approved claim.
  • You're changing bank accounts. BankSwitch sends your new details to every medical insurer from one signed form.
  • You want to be live within a day. NetPractice says practices are set up within 24 hours.
  • You'd like AI coding help for a fixed monthly price. AI Assist suggests ICD-10 and NAPPI codes for R149 a month.

Where Practor differs

  • You send enough claims a month for the per-claim rate to matter. Put the two rates in the table below against the claims you send in a month, and remember that NetPractice's first 10 are free.
  • You want to know what a patient's cover will pay before the consultation. Practor runs a benefit check through the claims network, priced per check. We didn't find benefit checks on NetPractice's pages.
  • You want patients to book online and see their own appointments, invoices and records. NetPractice's patient tools let patients update their details, sign consent and check in.
  • You want the consultation written up while you talk. Ava, Practor's AI scribe, writes the note and you accept or decline each entry, billed per use with no subscription. NetPractice's AI Assist suggests codes and drafts letters.

How switching works

Practor doesn't import straight from NetPractice or from any other system. Moving takes three steps, and our team does the second one with you.

  1. 1Export your patient list from NetPractice as a CSV file. If you're not sure how, ask NetPractice.
  2. 2Our team sets up your practice with you and imports the file. You match the file's columns to Practor's fields and check each one before anything is saved.
  3. 3Appointments, notes and invoices don't come across. Keep your NetPractice account, or a full export from NetPractice, so you can still look up a patient's history.
