Alternative to Healthbridge: how Practor compares
Almost 7,000 practices use Healthbridge, whose bureau can do your billing for a share of the money collected. Practor is software you run, priced per claim.
What Healthbridge does well
Healthbridge has been sending real-time claims since the early 2000s, and says the idea started there. Almost 7,000 private practices use Healthbridge today.
Healthbridge offers billing two ways. You can run the Healthbridge billing software in the cloud yourself, with claim responses that come back in real time and show what a patient's medical insurance will and won't pay, and remittances reconciled automatically. Or you hand the billing to Healthbridge Bureau, whose staff bill the medical insurers the same day, reconcile the remittance advices and chase what's outstanding. If you move to the bureau, the Healthbridge service team transfers your existing data for you.
The clinical side is separate. Healthbridge Clinical holds patient files, notes, pathology results, scripts and referrals, and there are dedicated products for anaesthetists and orthopaedic surgeons. Clinical Go, a lighter notes workspace for primary care, is free for the first six months.
The Healthbridge scribe is Nora. Healthbridge had backed Nora for 18 months before buying Nora outright, a deal ITWeb reported on 1 April 2026. Nora listens to the consultation and writes the note into your own templates.
There's no long contract on the billing software: you can leave on a month's notice.
Who should choose Healthbridge
- You'd rather hand your billing to someone else. Healthbridge Bureau bills the medical insurers for you, reconciles the remittances and follows up what's outstanding. Practor is software you run yourself.
- You're a specialist who does hospital rounds. Healthbridge's specialist billing invoices a series of rounds and manages several branches and suites, and Healthbridge has products for anaesthetists and orthopaedic surgeons.
- You want remittances reconciled for you. Healthbridge documents automatic reconciliation for both the billing software and the bureau.
- You want your scribe from the company that does your billing. Healthbridge owns Nora, an ambient AI scribe, outright.
Where Practor differs
- You'd like to know what you'll pay before you call anyone. Practor publishes every rate. Healthbridge charges a percentage that depends on your claim value and your specialty, and gives you the figure as a quote.
- You'd rather pay a fixed amount per claim than a share of what you claim. Practor charges per approved claim, so a large claim costs you the same as a small one, and a rejected claim costs nothing.
- You want the diary, the records, invoicing and claims in one product, with no monthly fee. Practor prices the invoice from the encounter's codes and sends the claim from that invoice, and running the practice is free for everyone on the team.
- You want to know the most a month can cost. Set a monthly limit on Practor's billing page, and paid features stop when you reach the limit.

You can set a monthly limit on what you spend, so you always know the most a month can cost. Practor has no monthly fee and no contract, and every rate is on the pricing page.
How switching works
Practor doesn't import straight from Healthbridge or from any other system. Moving takes three steps, and our team does the second one with you.
- 1Export your patient list from Healthbridge as a CSV file. If you're not sure how, ask Healthbridge.
- 2Our team sets up your practice with you and imports the file. You match the file's columns to Practor's fields and check each one before anything is saved.
- 3Appointments, notes and invoices don't come across. Keep your Healthbridge account, or a full export from Healthbridge, so you can still look up a patient's history.
